Can I fly here, right now, with this drone?

Vindrose combines restriction zones, weather and your drone's own limits into one answer — before you take off.

Vindrose is a planning aid, not an authorisation. It cannot clear you to fly. Always check NOTAM at ippc.no and the official sources before flying.

Three questions, one answer

Vindrose shows the zones where you are standing, the wind and gust forecast, and what the rules require for your specific drone — as one answer you can read in ten seconds in a field.

Four states, not two

The Norwegian CAA dataset contains no zones marked outright forbidden — everything is "requires permission" or "conditions apply". So Vindrose never says forbidden. It tells you who to ask.

Permission required — with the responsible authority's name and phone number.
Conditions apply — shown verbatim, exactly as the authority wrote them.
No known drone rule — a protected area whose conservation regulation says nothing about drones. You must check yourself. This covers over 2,500 areas, and we do not pretend it means "clear".
No registered zones — which is not the same as safe or legal.

Weather, presented honestly

MET's wind forecast is for ground level. It is usually windier at altitude, so treat the figure as a minimum rather than a guarantee. Gusts are not forecast beyond roughly 2.5 days, and past that Vindrose shows a gap in the chart instead of drawing zero.

Privacy by construction

No account, no login, no email address. Your drones are stored on your phone only. Zone lookup happens on the device, so your position does not leave the phone for it. No cookies on this site — and therefore no consent banner.

Known gaps in the data

Nine security areas — among them Sola Air Station and Bodø quays 1–3 — are published without map geometry and cannot be checked automatically. Vindrose does not hide this; it warns about it. See data sources and gaps.
