Privacy policy

In short: Vindrose has no user account and no server that stores you. Your drones and certificate details live on your phone only. Your position is used to look up zones on the device, and does not leave the phone for that.

2. What we process, and why

Location (GPS): Used to show where you are on the map and to find restriction zones. The zone check runs on your phone against data bundled in the app. We do not store your position, and we have no server that receives it.
Location sent to MET Norway for the forecast: To fetch a weather forecast, coordinates must be sent to MET Norway (the Norwegian Meteorological Institute). They are truncated to four decimals — roughly 11 metres — before being sent. We send nothing that identifies you, and no device ID.
Map tiles: The basemap comes from Kartverket. As with any web request, their servers see your IP address and which tiles you request. We neither control nor receive those logs.
Your drones and certificate details: Stored in a database on your phone. Never sent to us or to any third party. Uninstalling the app removes them.

3. What we do not do

No account, login or email collection.
No ads, and no selling or sharing of data for marketing.
No cross-app or cross-site tracking.
No cookies on this website, and therefore no consent banner.

4. Legal basis

Processing your location is necessary to provide the feature you asked for, under GDPR Article 6(1)(b). You can deny location access in your phone settings; the map and manual search still work, but you will not get an automatic answer for where you are standing.

Both are Norwegian public bodies within the EEA. We transfer no personal data outside the EEA.

6. Retention

We store nothing, because we have no server that receives your data. What is on your phone stays there until you delete it in the app or uninstall.

7. Crash reporting

If the app crashes we may receive a technical report (which screen, which line of code, device model and OS version). Reports are configured without IP addresses and without personal data, and are stored in the EU.

8. Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction and data portability under GDPR. Because we hold no data about you there is in practice nothing to disclose — but you can always contact us at emre@sandenutvikling.no.

If you believe we process data unlawfully, you can complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority, Datatilsynet.

9. Changes

If this policy changes we update the date above. For material changes we will notify you in the app.
